Metacell improves the biology upstream, so you don’t have to redesign the process downstream. We rapidly screen millions of mutants to find the highest-yielding, most stable strains for your specific molecule — dropping straight into your existing fermentation infrastructure and improving your cost of goods without regulatory disruption.

We work with established manufacturers looking to improve the economics of existing commercial processes — finding higher-yielding, more stable strains that lift margins without disrupting validated infrastructure. For companies earlier in development, we can also engage at the strain selection stage, before scale-up commitments are made.

We typically work in one of two ways. Most clients come to us with an existing strain and a yield problem — we run our high-throughput screening platform against it and return improved variants that drop straight into their existing process. For select molecules, manufacturers can also license our proprietary strains directly, skipping custom development entirely.
